Dev Blog #015 – Rocky Roads

It’s been a hectic last week or so as we have been trying to get back into the groove of things. Transitioning from a team that worked together in the same room for about four months to one that is only meeting for a few hours per week has been quite challenging. Part of our issue comes from having to take a few steps back so we can look at what we are doing from a macro level. Previously we were focusing just on getting the basic functionality into our drama manager, which meant we had to keep our scope fairly small. We created only enough rooms to prove the space felt big enough. We only developed the basic character concepts for a single play through. Moving forward, however, requires us to fully understand our universe and its inhabitants. Therefore, we all took up portions that we felt needed the most work and didn’t remember to ensure that everything was accounted for. Social media, this blog, audio, and more were forgotten and we are just now starting to patch these holes.



On the bright side of things, we are finally able to think about the final product. While Monkey is finishing up the first pass on the drama manager, Jason has been revisiting the house itself and adding in the entire layout. Erick is focusing on building out the characters, their backgrounds, and to start planning the stories for the comic. Helen and Marcelo are continuing to create assets so we can make the house feel full. We are all looking forward to a straighter path soon!
